But while the the real ones are few and far between, Detroit emcee Leek Hustle prides himself on maintaining a work ethic unmatched by most hustlers.
Growing up in a rough situation in Detroit, Leek Hustle looks back on those days an inspiration for his 100 MG movement that continues to make waves on Detroit's Hip-Hop scene.
"Our movement 100MG started about a year or two ago, me my cousin basically just wanted to give people that real raw, not lollipop rap,"Leek Hustle explains. "From lyrics to storytelling to the trap to talking about relationships with women, it's me, it's genuine and it's 100% authentic as you can tell."
After opening up for a host of big acts across the Midwest, Leek Hustle has developed a movement respected for their ambition and street acumen. In his most recent video for "Trappin Forreal" the Detroit trap rapper shares his world through the eyes of video director Jerry PHD who also directed Dej Loaf's "Try Me" visual.
"The video director Jerry PHD also shot Dej Loaf's "Try Me," we shot the video on Detroit's West-Side, and just tried to bring my 'hood to life," Leek Hustle explained.

Wallet Green [Video] Dont Cha
(Los Angeles, CA) - In Los Angeles, there's a lot of myths about the ways of life in the streets. There's also a lot of truth to what people say about the struggles of coming up in South Central, one of America's most notoriously dangerous inner cities.
If anyone knows the truth of the matter, its LA bred talent Wallet Green who remained neutral despite growing up just blocks away from regular gang violence and other dangerous street activity.
But with a focus to be more and having found success with the songs, "Sittin High" and "Let Me See Something" early on in his career, Wallet Green built on his early successes eventually releasing and ode to his hometown "LA" featuring RJ and Compton AV.
Now Wallet Green is prepping for his new EP, with the song "Don't Cha," produced by an Atlantic Records signed producer named "Composer" and is mixed and mastered by famed production group 1500 or Nothin.
"Right now I'm just trying get more visuals done and keep the music coming consistently. This time around I'm just looking to keep the music coming and keep the music current. I'm just at the point I just don't want to hold anything back," Wallet Green explained.
The track will be on Wallet's The Green Ticket EP, named after his Mill Ticket Music Group and his Mill Ticket Casting Agency that has been highly successful in Hollywood booking talent for artists like Drake, Tyga, Chris Brown, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar and other musicians.

Paul Allen -Trap House Video
(ANTIOCH, California) - If you know about finessin', then you know about the trap and all the things that come with that world. Enter, Paul Allen a rapper well versed in the language of the streets and the life that comes with the trap lifestyle.
While not glorifying the life of drugs and trafficking but focusing more on the work ethic and a drive to be the best, Paul Allen is preparing for the release of his sequel effort Finesse Kid 2. To prepare for the release the SODMG affiliated artist is releasing his Zaytoven produced song, "Trap House."
"We shot the video live from the homie's house where we hang out at. The song is called "Trap House" so it was only right that I took it to the trap. It's just me and the homies doing what we normally do. There's traps all around the world, So on this visual I'm showing the people my version of that," Paul Allen explained
From the hoods to the 'burbs, the trap has taken over and in many ways become an influential part of Hip-Hop culture. Finesse Kid 2 is the epitome of that attitude and culture.
"Finesse Kid 2 is the sequel to the Finesse Kid project I released a few months back. This is my equivalent of Friday & Next Friday coming with the next big bang. Not putting too many features on this project but more focusing on better production this time around, Paul Allen said. "I'm presenting a more mature artist behind the mic showing my growth. "I'm non-stop, i don't come from a rich family, this was something that just wasn't going to stop me. I mean sometimes your mind is going to get to you but I persevered. Nowadays I smoke me a blunt and get on with my day."

LeBron James isn’t the only thing poppin’ in Cleveland, Ohio. Newcomer Kipp Stone is starting to make a name for himself, in and out of his hometown. The 23-year-old ryhme-slinger broke out after releasing “30FTALL” and hasn’t looked back. Now he’s gearing up to release a new project that should show off his lyrical prowess. He told XXL, “Next I’m working on a mixtape called The Grand Desire. I’m just constantly busy writing and making beats; just to the top from here man. I grew up listening to: Mostly I would listen to anything my dad would listen to. He was heavy into music. He made music. My dad used to make super ’90s R&B music. He would listen to a lot of the classics like Earth, Wind & Fire and classic rap like Mos Def and Rakim and stuff like that. But when I finally got into rap I was listening to a lot of Eminem, Talib Kweli and of course Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, being that I’m from Cleveland. The Eminem Show was the first album I ever bought with my own money. Then eventually while watching 8 Mile I decided I’m going to start rapping and I didn’t really start taking it seriously until I dropped out of high school. I got into a really bad car accident, my grades started messing up, I was smoking and missing class and eventually I just dropped out. That was 2010. I just realized this is the only thing I’m really good at. I used to just rap on the corner for people or rap in the car, rap on the phone, that’s all I ever did.
My style’s been compared to: I’ve been compared to a lot of people, like ScHoolboy Q, Drake, J. Cole and stuff like that. I personally can’t compare myself to an artist. The artists I most relate to is your Kendricks, your Drakes and stuff like that. That’s what I’m listening to most of the time any way.
My standout records and/or moments to date have been: I would have to say the release of “30FTALL.” When I made it I wasn’t expecting it as big as it got. I made the song and everybody had heard it. It ended up on The Cosign 3, which is a really big mixtape in Cleveland because of DJ Steph Floss and Big Heff and everybody that was involved with it. It was huge for me.
My goal in hip-hop is: Well obviously to be one of the greats, but aside from that, it has to be one of the most respected hip-hop artists. Not even just on my skill alone but respect as a person. My respect for people and people respect for me is huge for me. Like a huge fanbase and people respect what I have to say.
I’m going to be the next: I would want to be the next big cult classic. When you think of a cult classic they don’t really gain a lot of commercial success or nothing like that. But everybody knows this is it, this is the guy. When you’re watching certain movies like Pulp Fiction… It’s not like a huge movie but when you mention a favorite movie you’re going to mention it. Also, I want to prove that you don’t have to be a snake to get success. I have a lot further to go but I got to where I’m at now by staying true to the people around me and staying true to what I believe. I think that’s huge.

Roc & Yella [Video] Lost Alot
(Orangeburg, South Carolina) - Its a been a tumultuous several months for the state of South Carolina. First the shooter who killed nine in the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in the summer and now floods are destroying property across the state this week. But despite the tough times, Roc & Yella have persevered despite it all and are continuing to make their music heard.
Despite having "Lost Alot" they are still pushing and making strides on their local rap scene. Kicking things off this Fall, the group is pushing the street ready song, "Lost Alot." The song details all they have lost on their way to achieving their goals of stardom in Hip-Hop and is theme local fans on their scene can appreciate given the circumstances in South Carolina.
"During the time we made this song we were both going through each of the situations that we talk about in the song, so this is real life situations we felt so it was easy to write this song," Yella explained.
"The song 'Lost Alot' is for all those that we lost. Its a heart felt record. We lost a friend behind a car accident not long ago so this is a tribute to those that are dead or in jail or prison or that are away," Roc explained.
The biological cousins who have done everything together since kids say the scene in South Carolina, "has a ton of talent." But while there is talent, they still feel they have to climb out of the crab bucket to become one of first acts to break onto the national scene from their state.
"There's been a rapper from nearly every state in the South except for South Carolina and we feel we can be the first one's to do it," rapper Roc explained. "Its cool though, we got a lot of talent that makes dope music, so I feel it's coming soon."
"Yea to that, its like people want to see you do good, but they don't want to see you do better than them, so its like its crabs in a bucket out here" Yella said of his home state. "I think once this DJ Burn One project comes out people will see where things are going for us."
Look out for more from the guys soon, as they will be dropping more tracks from their diverse catalogue of songs set to be featured on the project with DJ Burn One who will be executive producer on the street album, Ain't No Loyalty. The project will be narrated by @djblord who is one of the biggest DJ's in South Carolina.

Kartel Gang [Audio] My Brothers Keeper
(Queens, NYC) - It was just weeks ago that the Kartel Gang was riding high on the success of songs with Beanie Siegel, Red Cafe and Uncle Murda, but that all ended short last week as Russ Blade was murdered in Queens. Robbed for his jewelry in the late hours of the night, the Queens bred rapper is survived by his wife and daughter. While they still don't have answers about who it was that senselessly killed Russ Blade, Bo and Blade knew each other since the sandbox as you can see in the art for this single.
Needless to say, this is a very tough time and this is an important song for both King Bo and Smit of Backdoor Movements (manager of Kartel Gang), as they try to carry on Russ Blade's legacy. The legacy of Russ Blade's music will live on through King Bo, who will continue to push on for Kartel Gang as a solo artist. While it may be some time before King Bo regroups after losing his brother from another mother, he felt it was necessary to pay tribute to Russ Blade with this song, "My Brothers Keeper."

Zach Farlow [Video] Pullin Up
(Atlanta, GA) - Bred in Kentucky and Tennessee as a youth, ATL residing artist Zach Farlow has quickly developed his buzz throughout the South for his candid take on streets and the rap game. Admittedly coming from nothing to something, Zach Farlow unleashes his track "Pullin Up," which speaks to his new found lavish life and management situation with Special Entertainment that has afforded him a life far different from his humble beginnings.
Adorning chains, watches and living luxurious in Bentley's and other nice cars Zach Farlow's life has turned a complete 180 degrees from his troubled childhood and a stabbing incident that caused him to have 42 staples in his stomach. Small town Kentucky and Tennessee are a far cry from the nightlife that Zach now experiences regularly as part of the Atlanta trap scene.
Several years removed from nearly losing his life, Zach Farlow's first mixtape The Great Escape was a hit featuring a host of talented producers like Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, 808 Mafia, DJ Spinz and Lex Luger. But, judging by what Zach says, this next tape is likely to be just as fire as the first.
"The next tape is actually the sequel to the first tape, its called 'The Great Escape 2.' The first one was 'The Great Escape' from my old life, where I was tired of working a factory job, to then selling drugs, to then actually getting in the game," Zach Farlow recalled. 'The Great Escape 2' is getting in the game, but getting in the next level of the game, elevating. Now I got to get out of this underground area and get to the top."
Recently dubbed by Jack Thriller as the "First White Trap Rapper," Zach Farlow has drawn comparisons to a host of talented acts in the Southern trap rap scene like Future, Kevin Gates and Rich Homie Quan.
"I'm thankful to be compared to people, all the comparisons to such great acts from the South that were influences and peers is an honor, but I feel like I'm nothing like the other artists, I think people draw the comparisons because we are Southern artists doing what we feel," Zach said. "I have a few features from Trae, Snootie Wild, me and Rich Homie Quan are cool and I got a song with K Camp, I have relationships with all these artists. A lot of producer friends as well, so I'm just pushing to make the best music possible with people who all have the same common goals," Zach Farlow explained.

Band Gang [Audio] 2 Bad Bitches feat Icewear Vezzo
(Detroit, MI) - Known for causing a scene in their hometown of Detroit and having just been banned from from Detroit's Hot 107.5 Summer Jam, The Family's rap collective Band Gang has generated millions of views online and are in position to take their city by storm. Recently at one of their videos the Detroit Police came through in full force with helicopters and riot police to stop the commotion caused by heavy support of their fans at their video shoot.
"There's definitely some good artists out in Detroit, but there a lot of acts that rap on a Cali or Atlanta beat with a Detroit sound, I think our records represent Detroit to the fullest," The Family explained about Band Gang.
With some members still in high school, their connection to the youth of the streets is undeniable. Band Gang is prepping for their release of their Young Kings project dropping June 30th hosted by DJ Cassius Caine and RJ Lamont. (Pittsburgh, PA) - Having been bubbling as a mixtape king in the streets of Pittsburgh several years prior to joining Wiz Khalifa on the Waken Baken tour in 2010, Chevy Woods‘ legacy is well-renowned in his hometown as he’s continued to make waves abroad with the Taylor Gang. “Now That I’m Up” follows Woods‘ SXSW I Love Texas EP, which he released during the week of the festival, and his Gangland 3 mixtape, which released at the top of the year.
Co-produced by fellow Pittsburgher Sledgren and Chicagoan RMB Justize, the trunk-rattling trap beat for “Now That I’m Up” compliments Chevy Woods‘ boastful auto-tuned raps. Filmed just south of Pittsburgh, blue and red coloring detach Woods from the grayscale backgrounds of a construction yard and vintage car garage, which bares a TGOD graffiti tag.

Meet Louis Quinn; a hip hop recording artist from The Bronx, New York.Growing up in the South Bronx, during the time of Terror Squad, Ruff Ryders, and D-Block. Also at a time also when New York Bloods was terrorizing the streets, Quinn became no stranger to the lifestyle his music depicts. After repeating the 10th grade, Quinn dropped out of high school and began spending most of his time in the streets. Later that year, he was brought in by a friend to work at a record store on Hunts Point in The Bronx, Quinn then was introduced to another aspiring rapper who encouraged him to pick up a pen and start writing. Originally using the name Ronnie Sparkz " (he eventually changed it to Louis Quinn to pay homage to his father and grandfather) In the mid 2000's Quinn was also part of the rap group Take Money. Recording at Hollyhood Studios in Mt. Vernon which was home to the D Block's Self Proclaimed King Of Beats, Vinny Idol; who took a liking, even hosted a mixtape.

Cleveland native Billard has already made waves for himself as an up-and-comer in hip-hop with his debut mixtape, I Am Billard, and collaborations with Machine Gun Kelly, Doe B, and more. Today, he debuts his new FKi-produced single, "Amen," which will be featured on his next project, Mr. Howell.
Behind the mesmerizing production on this single, Billard uses a calm and deliberate auto-tune heavy flow while rapping furiously and tops things off with an infectious hook.
